College Planning

Most students know that education beyond high school is key to many career fields and a route to more job stability and income in the future.  Just a few statistics to consider:

  • According to the 2007 NASFAA Journal of Financial Aid:  On average, a person with a bachelor's degree will earn more than a person with a high school diploma - over a lifetime it could be over a million dollars more!
  • The 2009 median US earnings according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics:
    • Those with a high school diploma earned $32,552/year
    • Those with a bachelor's degree earned $53,300/year

But it's not just about the income, college can also be a way to grow as a person, expand your horizons, pursue your passion, and meet many interesting people and lifelong friends.  However, many students (and parents) don't know that planning for college should start many years before that first day of class.  It is more than just receiving that acceptance letter, but preparing in advance both academically and financially.  Fortunately, there are many great resources available to help you meet your educational goals.  If you are still researching and making decisions about where to attend, Student Financial Services would encourage you to learn more about CSU-Pueblo at our "Go CSU-Pueblo" website.  And for parents seeking information about CSU-Pueblo, also check out the Colorado State University-Pueblo "Parents" page.
