You can apply for financial aid by completing and submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You can apply through the Internet, using FAFSA on the Web, or you can complete a paper FAFSA.

FAFSA on the Web. You can access FAFSA on the Web at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Students are strongly encouraged to file electronically because the software immediately identifies potential errors and allows for on-the spot corrections. Plus, once you transmit your FAFSA, your information goes right into the U.S. Department of Education’s Central Processing System (CPS). The CPS will process your application in one to five days; provided you (and your parents, if applicable) have submitted electronic signatures.

A PIN is an electronic access code number that serves as an electronic signature. A PIN allows you to:
  • Check on the status of your FAFSA
  • Access your Student Aid Report (SAR), which is your processed FAFSA data
  • Make corrections to your application information
  • Complete your Renewal FAFSA
  • Electronically access your applicant data records, such as your student loan history.
You and your parent should apply for your PIN at www.fafsa.ed.gov before completing your FAFSA on the Web. At the site, click on “Apply for PIN” in the left column.

Mailing a Paper FAFSA. The paper FAFSA is available at your high school, local library, postsecondary school, or from the following address:

Federal Student Aid Information Center
P.O. Box 84
Washington, DC 20044-0084
(1-800-433-3243)

Complete the application and mail it in the pre-addressed envelope inside your FAFSA packet. Be sure to list the school code for CSU-Pueblo (001365) to ensure that we receive your SAR electronically. Mailing a paper FAFSA can take from 3 to 6 weeks to process.

When CSU-Pueblo receives your electronic SAR your financial aid file will be reviewed. In some cases the student will have to provide documentation such as tax returns, verification worksheets, or other documents necessary to verify information reported on the FAFSA. Once the file is reviewed and eligibility requirements are met, a financial aid award offer will be mailed to the student.
