Other Scholarships
In addition to CSU-Pueblo Institutional Scholarships, there are several other potential scholarship sources in your local community and beyond. Many are untapped, and many have relatively few applicants. Think about organizations in which you, your parents, or other relatives are active. Examples include churches, service clubs, places of employment, and so on. Be persistent and diligent. Use the list below as a starting point.
  • High School Counselors - will have information relating to those scholarships open only to graduating seniors and scholarships available from organizations in your particular area.
  • Employers - some have established scholarships for their employees and / or dependents.
  • Churches - may provide funds to further the education of their parishioners / congregations.
  • Service Clubs and Organizations - contact a representative concerning scholarship information.
  • Libraries - have a number of publications listing the organizations and foundations that offer scholarships and grants. Some of the publications whish list undergraduate scholarships are: "Scholarships, Fellowships, and Loans", "College Blue Book", and "Financial Aid for Higher Education".
  • Scholarship Organizations - for a fee, some businesses will do the research for you. However, a note of caution: Check out the organization first to make sure it is a reputable company.
  • There are many sources on the Internet. Try these for starters:
    www.studentservices.com/fastweb
    www.collegeboard.org
    www.collegenet.com
    www.freschinfo.com
    www.college-scholarships.com
