Are currently enrolled students eligible for the four-year incentive program?
No. Only first-time, full-time freshmen who are Colorado residents and are entering CSU-Pueblo in either the summer 2007, fall 2007 or a semester thereafter are eligible to sign up for the incentive program.
I’m entering CSU-Pueblo summer 2007. Will I be eligible for the incentive?
Yes. In fact, entering CSU-Pueblo in the summer may be an ideal time for you to take preparatory coursework, depending on your placement test scores.
What is the deadline for me to sign up for the four-year incentive?
New Colorado resident freshmen have until the last day of their first semester to sign the incentive contract.
What do I have to do to sign up for the four-year incentive?
First, you must sign a four-year incentive contract. Then you must meet with your advisor every semester and graduate in four years or less.
Where can I get the contract?
The contract is available on the CSU-Pueblo website and in the First Year Programs Department. After completing it you must submit it to the First Year Programs Department in the First-Year Center: Library 2nd floor.
I’m entering CSU-Pueblo fall 2007. What is the last term for me to graduate and still receive the tuition rebate?
Spring 2011. The four-year period will be based on eight consecutive fall-spring semesters beginning with the semester you entered CSU-Pueblo. Summer terms within the eight semesters may be used as well but are not required.
Must I attend summer school?
No. You should be able to complete your graduation requirements in eight or fewer semesters. Summer sessions are available for you if you need them in order to complete within four years, but are not required.
Who is eligible for the incentive?
The four-year incentive is only available to Colorado residents. WUE, non-resident, and international students are not eligible.
Must I declare a major as soon as I enroll at CSU-Pueblo?
While we highly recommend it, it is not required at initial entry at CSU-Pueblo. However, your advisor will help you decide upon a major as soon as possible.
Must I take and pass at least 30 credits of coursework per year?
No. However, you must take and pass an average of 30 credits of coursework per year in order to graduate with 120 credits in four years.
Can I take courses at other colleges and transfer them in towards my degree and still remain eligible for the incentive?
While you are free to take courses elsewhere, you must take at least 120 hours of coursework at CSU-Pueblo in order to qualify for the incentive.
What if I have to take remedial courses? Will they count against my four years?
You have four academic years to complete your degree and receive the incentive. All remedial or pre-college coursework, if necessary, must be completed within that four year period. If you have to take such courses, you may need to take some of them (or others) during the summer.
Must I see my advisor every semester?
Yes. Both you and your advisor are obligated to consult regularly in order to ensure you maintain your eligibility for the incentive throughout your four year period.
When will I receive my incentive check?
As soon as grades are posted for your final semester we will verify your graduation. That will be followed by a review of your account to determine if you have any outstanding obligations and to determine the exact amount of incentive you may receive. This process should be completed within one month of commencement.
How much will my incentive check be?
Up to $1,500, but the actual amount will depend on several factors. Students will receive a refund regardless of whether their tuition is covered by scholarships, grants, or loans, but the refund will be your last semester tuition less any unpaid tuition, fees, parking tickets, room and board, or library fines that will be deducted from the incentive check. Students with loans may choose to apply the refund to those loans, but the choice is theirs.
Where can I get more information about the four-year incentive program?
The Provost’s Office in room 303 of the Administration building can provide general information and direct you to the First Year Programs Department for more detailed information if necessary. In addition, staff in the Admissions and Records office are available to assist you.
