Federal Perkins Loan
The Federal Perkins Loan is a low-interest (5 percent) loan for both undergraduate and graduate students with exceptional financial need. The school is the lender and the loan must be repaid back to the school.
At CSU-Pueblo, Federal Perkins Loan repayment is serviced by Educational Computer Systems, Inc. (ECSI).
Repayment on a Federal Perkins Loan begins nine months after ceasing half time enrollment, and repayment is up to 10 years. Students may borrow up to $5500 as an undergraduate, and up to $8000 as a graduate per academic year.
If you are awarded a Federal Perkins loan, you will be contacted by our servicer (ECSI) via your CSU-Pueblo email account to complete the required paperwork for the fund to disburse.
For students who are graduating, totally withdrawing, or dropping below 6 credits of enrollment from the University - you must also complete Exit Counseling if you have ever borrowed a federal Perkins loan from any institution. Students who have borrowed a Perkins loan will be contacted by ECSI (our Perkins loan servicer) via campus email to complete Exit Counseling. (Students seeking information about repayment options, grace periods, and consequences of not repaying your student loan can visit Student Aid on the Web.)
