Colorado State University – Pueblo Teacher groups sponsor book drive through December
PUEBLO – This holiday season, the Colorado State University-Pueblo Teacher Education Association and Teacher Education Program are sponsoring the 13th Annual Bring a Kid a Book (BAKAB) book drive to put books directly into the hands of school children who come from homes where books are not readily available.
In 2013, organizers will collect new or gently used books (or monetary donations to purchase books) and distribute them to children at local elementary schools. A pick-up service is available by calling 719-549-2216. Anyone wishing to donate books, money, or gift cards from Amazon or Barnes and Noble, for example, may deliver them to Technology 230 or call and arrange a representative to pick up the items.
Last year, the BAKAB book drive collected 3,813 books that were then distributed to children at four local elementary schools along with sizable book donations to each school’s library. The organizers have set a goal to collect 4,500 books this year.
The BAKAB book drive will continue through the end of December. All books will be delivered to local schools before the holiday break. Individuals or businesses seeking more information about the program may contact Jeremiah Blaha in the Teacher Education Program at (719) 549-2216.
