Colorado State University - Pueblo hosts MATHCOUNTS for area middle schools

PUEBLO – Fourteen teams from Southern Colorado middle schools will compete in the 2013 MATHCOUNTS – Southern Colorado Chapter competition on Saturday, Feb. 16 in Life Sciences Building 105 at Colorado State University-Pueblo.

The regional event is organized by Coalition of Pueblo Engineers in collaboration with the CSU-Pueblo Engineering Department with the top teams & individuals advancing to state competition on Saturday, March 9 at the University of Denver. The state and national competitions are organized by the National Society of Professional Engineers. The Mathletes who win the Colorado State Competition go on to Raytheon MATHCOUNTS National Competition, scheduled for Friday, May 10 in Washington, D.C.

Entering its 30th year of competition, MathCounts emphasizes fun and excitement through its signature competition program. The program is one of the country's largest and most successful education partnerships involving volunteers, educators, industry sponsors and students.

  • Sprint Round 9 to 9:50 a.m.
  • Target Round 10 to 10:30 a.m.
  • Team Round 10:40 to 11:05 a.m.
  • Lunch Break 11:15 to 12:15 p.m.
  • Entertainment 12:25 to 1 p.m.

The CountDown Round /Award Ceremony is open to the public beginning at 1 p.m. in the OUC Ballroom.
