Colorado State University - Pueblo teacher ed faculty member earns statewide honor
PUEBLO – Colorado State University-Pueblo teacher education faculty member Margie Massey will receive the Excellence in Education Award at the state convention of Alpha Delta Kappa in April for her contributions to education.
The Excellence in Education Award recognizes members of Alpha Delta Kappa for their outstanding contributions to education. To be eligible, the nominee must be an active
member in good standing, be actively engaged in the education profession and be under contract in teaching, administration or some specialized field of education. Nominated by a colleague or parent, nominations are based on professional dedication, knowledge, skills, professional achievement and success, school/community collaboration, contributions to the educational process and active involvement in Alpha Delta Kappa.
Massey has been a champion of faculty governance at CSU-Pueblo, where she is vice president of the Faculty Senate, member of the Faculty Compensation Committee, chair of the Student Technology Fee committee, and member of the Instructional Technology Board. She also serves on the ad-hoc committee reviewing the academic calendar and a faculty sponsor for the Teacher Education Association.
Beyond the university, Massey tutors at-risk youth through the Judicial Building under the direction of Judge Dennis Maes. She has provided professional development workshops for Pueblo Community College and School District 70 regarding the use of technology. Regarding her Alpha Delta Kappa membership, she has demonstrated a loyalty to maintaining the viability of our chapter by assuming a leadership osition—president-elect. She will be installed as Alpha Iota Chapter President in April, 2012. To effectively lead, she has attended the Colorado Alpha Delta 2010 Convention and more recently the 2011 Colorado ADK Conference.
Massey also received the Mary T. Figenbaum Professional Growth Scholarship for 2012, which provides compensation to attend conferences that would support organizing and hosting technology workshops for K-12 schools.
