Colorado State University - Pueblo Vet’s Day commemoration to honor student veterans
PUEBLO –A Veteran’s Day Commemoration co-sponsored by the Marine Corps League Home of Heroes Detachment 1376 at Colorado State University-Pueblo will include aircraft flyovers, comments by Medal of Honor Recipient Drew Dix, recognition of CSU-Pueblo student veterans and music by the CSU-Pueblo Chamber Choir. The Veteran’s Day event will begin at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 12 at the Southeast Asia Memorial on campus, which was re-dedicated last year with the addition of all Colorado soldiers who lost their lives in the Vietnam/Southeast Asia conflict.
The expanded memorial now includes the 623 names of all Colorado service men and women who were killed in the war, including SCSC and CSU-Fort Collins alumni.
CSU-Pueblo alumnus and former administrator Luis Valerio will serve as emcee of the event, which will recognize more than 400 CSU-Pueblo students who have proudly served their country. Representatives from various veterans organizations and branches of service will lay wreaths to honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice to their country.
CSU-Pueblo will be represented by comments from President Lesley Di Mare, Associated Students’ Government President Logan Gogarty, as well as music by the CSU-Pueblo Chamber Choir, directed by Dana Ihm. The ceremony also will include comments by Pueblo County Commissioner Jeff Chostner and several CSU-Pueblo student veterans. A reception co-sponsored by the Marine Corps League and the Veteran and Military Support Club will follow the ceremony in the Occhiato University Center (OUC).
Parking will be available in lots east of the Fountain Plaza and northeast of the OUC.
