Colorado State University – Pueblo Presents the Pueblo Keyboard Arts Festival
PUEBLO – Performances by talented middle and high school students as well as a faculty duo piano concert will highlight the Pueblo Keyboard Arts Festival, scheduled from November 26 through December 1 at Colorado State University-Pueblo.
The Festival Faculty Duo-Piano Concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. on November 30 at CSU-Pueblo’s Hoag Recital Hall and will feature CSU-Pueblo Music Professor Zahari Metchkov and Caroline Oltmanns on Pianos and CSU-Pueblo music faculty Aaron Turner and Eddie Dowdle III on percussion. The musicians will perform the Sonata for two Pianos and Percussion by Bela Bartok as well as masterpieces by Debussy, Liszt, and Astor Piazzolla.
Visiting artist Oltmanns is praised by the press for her “impeccable technique and expressivity.” Her soloist concerts have been heard around the world, including in Germany, France, Switzerland, South Africa, and across North America. Oltmanns is also a professor of piano at Youngstown State University. She has presented master classes and workshops in the United States, Canada, and Europe. Dr. Oltmanns is a native of Furth, Germany and attended the University of Southern California. She is credited as an International Steinway Artist.
The calendar of events for the festival also includes a performance by the middle/high school students of Masterclass I on November 26, the CSU-Pueblo Student Masterclass performance on November 27, and the middle/high school students of Masterclass II on November 28.
The concluding event of the Keyboard Arts Festival is the Young Artist Piano Competition on Saturday, December 1, which includes 20 participants primarily from the Pueblo/Colorado Springs area.
