Colorado State University-Pueblo Beta Gamma Sigma named Premier Chapter 2011-12
PUEBLO – The Board of Governors of Beta Gamma Sigma has named Colorado State University-Pueblo’s chapter one of the Premier Chapters for 2011-12. To qualify, 85 percent of the CSU-Pueblo Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) chapter’s qualifying members at both the undergraduate and graduate level must accept the invitation to become lifetime members.
Beta Gamma Sigma is the international honor society serving business programs accredited by AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest recognition a business student anywhere in the world can receive in a business program accredited by AACSB International. Beta Gamma Sigma has established 486 collegiate chapters in all 50 U.S. states and 19 countries and territories at schools accredited by AACSB International. Additionally, 24 alumni chapters serve the needs of alumni members in major metropolitan areas, including Hong Kong.
CSU-Pueblo’s BGS Premier Chapter classification is testament to the chapter’s high value on scholarship, according to Chapter Advisor Sue Hanks, who indicated that the chapter has received this honor four times since its inception in 2005. BGS chapters allow top business students to join the Beta Gamma Sigma organization that was founded as nationally in 1913. Students ranking in the top 10 percent of the baccalaureate and top 20 percent of graduate programs at schools accredited by AACSB International, The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, are eligible. CSU-Pueblo is one of 486 established collegiate chapters.
As a Premier Chapter, CSU-Pueblo’s BGS chapter qualifies to participate in and receive $500 in the BGS Matching Funds scholarship program next year. The chapter also is eligible to nominate one of its own BGS chapter advisors to be considered in the 2013 Outstanding Chapter and Chapter Advisor competitions, which offer additional scholarship dollars. All application materials for these programs will be sent to CSU-Pueblo’s BGS chapter before the end of the Fall 2012 semester.
As a Premiere Chapter, CSU-Pueblo also may send one or two BGS student members to a Student Leadership Forum and may nominate someone for the 2013 Business Achievement or Medallion for Entrepreneurship Awards.
