Colorado State University - Pueblo automotive industry program schedules fundraisers

PUEBLO – The Automotive Industry Management program at Colorado State University-Pueblo has a stellar record of placing graduates into the automotive industry and seeks to continue that success with help from several spring fundraising and awareness events.

Only nine United States universities offer an automotive industry related bachelor’s degree and of those nine, only in CSU-Pueblo’s AIM program do graduates earn a business administration minor. The CSU-Pueblo AIM degree is a marriage of two distinct programs within the university, combining automotive technical course work with the business administration minor from the Hasan School of Business.

“Our students are highly sought by leaders in the industry following graduation, including MHC, Cummins, Sherwin William, Honda, Ford, Toyota, MIDAS and the aftermarket industry to name a few,” according to Cathi Robbe, AIM program coordinator and assistant professor. “But AIM students also enjoy the advantage of paid summer internships with companies like Chrysler LLC in Denver and Irvine, CA, Ford/TAC in Dearborn, MI and Toyota in Torrance, CA.”

Three full-time assistant professors lead the AIM enrollment of approximately 100 majors, which ensures significant one-on-one learning experiences. Two of the three faculty members, Cathi Robbe and Tyrell Smith, are graduates of the AIM program. The third, William Bencini, Bencini has more than 30 years experience in secondary, community college, and university level automotive programs.

The Automotive Booster Club will host two events this spring to raise funds for program enhancements. The 7th Annual Jim Ward Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, April 20 at Walking Stick Golf Course. The 3rd Annual Paul Sefcovic Memorial Auto Show will follow the next day, Saturday, April 21, on the CSU-Pueblo Campus. Registration forms for both events can be requested by emailing
