Two Finalists Announced in CSU-Pueblo Presidential Search


DENVER – The CSU-Pueblo presidential search advisory committee met today to announce two finalists for the position of president of CSU-Pueblo. Following a series of interviews conducted over the last two weeks with several candidates, the committee invited the following two finalists for interviews with the committee, the CSU-Pueblo campus community, the Pueblo community, Chancellor Joe Blake, and the Board of Governors.

The two finalists are:

Dr. W. David WattsW. David Watts, Ph.D., President of The University of Texas of the Permian Basin. Dr. Watts was formerly the Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs for Jacksonville State University.  Dr. Watts’ application cover letter and CV.

 

 

 

 

 

Dr. Tim HudsonTim Hudson, Ph.D., Special Assistant to the Chancellor for International Programs and Initiatives, University of Houston System. Dr. Hudson was the former President of the University of Houston-Victoria.  Dr. Hudson’s application cover letter and CV.

 

 

 

 

 

“The committee was impressed with the quality of the candidates,” said Dorothy Horrell, chair of the search advisory committee and member of the Board of Governors of the CSU System. “The applicant pool was diverse and offered a range of expertise, skills, and experiences. Drs. Watts and Hudson stood out because of their experience working with first generation students and their keen sense of CSU-Pueblo’s future potential.”

“I would like to commend the search advisory committee for their professionalism and dedication during the process,” said Horrell. “The committee worked diligently and thoughtfully to move the search forward in a timely fashion.”

Members serving on the search advisory committee include CSU System board members, faculty, students, staff, alumni and members of the Pueblo community.

Due to the importance of the presidential search process to the Pueblo community and to keep the momentum moving forward, Patrick McConathy, Chair of the Board of Governors of the CSU System, announced that the May meeting of the board will be moved to CSU-Pueblo. The board meeting will take place May 3-4, with a special board meeting on May 3 to allow the board to deliberate on the two finalists and to vote in public on a permanent president for CSU-Pueblo.
