Colorado State University - Pueblo Campus Crusade conducts Injustice Week activities

PUEBLO –The Campus Crusade for Christ on the Colorado State University-Pueblo campus will engage in a variety of activities next week, Oct. 17-20, to raise awareness of injustices around the world.

On Monday, flags will be placed on the lawn around the Fountain Plaza to represent the fact that  800,000 people are trafficked across international borders each day. One flag will equal 2,000 people. The flags will remain on display throughout the week.  On Tuesday, a chalk table will allow students on campus to share their feelings, experiences, and knowledge of injustice.

Information and demonstrations of injustice and oppression (someone wrapped in duck tape for a whole day, someone in a cardboard box, someone in chains, someone carrying bricks) will be on display  on Wednesday.

Campus Crusade representatives will be handing out fliers on campus on Thursday as well as hosting an activity called soularium. Soularium is an engaging outreach activity that uses pictures and questions to get people thinking about their own lives. According to event organizer Erica Whitmore, individuals are shown pictures of random things that are beautiful, weird, funny, interesting, then asked questions about their own life to spark conversation about injustice and to raise awareness on the campus. The week’s activities will conclude on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Life Sciences auditorium with a presentation by Libby Swenson from International Justice Mission, who will discuss social injustices around the world such as human trafficking, child slavery, and other unjust acts.  She will explain what the International Justice Mission is doing to help end these practices, including raising awareness, restoring innocent victims, brining the criminals to the law, and putting legislation in place to make these acts illegal.
