Colorado State University - Pueblo offers new five-week summer school options
PUEBLO – Colorado State University will offer three unique five-week programs, July 9-August 12, in addition to a full slate of summer school courses. The University will bring back its popular Jump Start program and add General Education and College Preparatory Bundles that include discounts on residence hall lodging, food, and textbooks.
For a second consecutive year, CSU-Pueblo will offer Jump Start, a bridge program that allows incoming freshmen to earn nine college credits in five weeks while living on campus and experiencing the great Colorado outdoors. The Jump Start program teaches student success skills and time management in preparation for full-time enrollment in the fall by requiring students to live on campus and participate in scheduled classes and activities. Participating incoming freshmen will complete nine credits, including general education and college preparatory courses, while experiencing college life and the great Colorado outdoors for just $3,310.
Jump Start allows students to complete general education courses such as composition, math, history, or human development. Furthermore, students needing college preparatory courses in writing and math can complete those before the start of the Fall 2011 semester. The program provides a network of new friends to help avoid the sometimes uncomfortable transition to starting a new life chapter as well as an easier transition to college living and learning environments by acclimating students to the locations and feel of residence halls (new Crestone Hall), cafeterias, laboratories, and classrooms.
Interested individuals must complete a Summer Jump Start Registration Confirmation and submit a $310 pre-payment. Complete information on the Jump Start Program or an application may be obtained at www.gocsupueblo.com/JumpStart or by contacting
Derek Lopez, director of First Year Programs, (719) 549-2535, OUC 213A, 2200 Bonforte Blvd., Pueblo, CO. 81001.
COLLEGE PREPARATORY BUNDLE
The College Preparatory Bundle offers students the opportunity to enroll in six or seven semester hours, including two of the following courses--English, math or reading, along with an optional one-semester hour freshman experience course. Current 2010-2011 tuition and fee rates apply.
The College Preparatory Bundle includes tutoring services to help ensure student success, the chance to live on-campus in Belmont Hall at a cost of $100/week, a discounted meal plan, and a five percent discount on textbooks. Completion of the College Preparatory courses gives students a head start on the fall semester through foundation courses, a smooth transition to CSU-Pueblo in the fall, and increased confidence in the ability to succeed in college having already completed required coursework.
GENERAL EDUCATION BUNDLE
The General Education Bundle offers the same lodging, food, and textbook discounts, while allowing students the opportunity to earn significant credit hours, get a head start on their college career, and make additional progress toward their projected graduation date. Meal plans aren’t required for summer school students, so discounted meal plans are available, but not required. Courses available in the General Education Bundle include Psychology 151 (Human Development), English 130 (Introduction to Literature), Math 109 (Mathematical Explorations) and EXHP 162 (Personal Health) and lab.
