Colorado State University-Pueblo’s Department of Music will host more than 200 high school musicians

PUEBLO –Colorado State University-Pueblo’s Department of Music will host more than 200 high school musicians and faculty representing 31 Colorado high schools as part of the third annual Festival of Winds event, February 17-19. The 2½-day event will feature a director-recommended High School Honor Band, exhibition performances by invited high school concert bands, a scholarship competition, master classes, graduate credit for participating directors, and concerts by the Fountain Creek Brass Band and U.S. Air Force Falconaires Jazz Band.

The guest clinician for the event will be Dr. Patrick Dunnigan, director of bands at Florida State University. The Festival will feature six concerts, all of which are free and open to the public in Hoag Recital Hall, including the opening concert featuring the United States Air Force Falconiares Jazz Band at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17.  The Festival also will feature a concert by the Fountain Creek Brass Band, which will showcase some unique brass instruments that play in the British Band tradition.  More info here:  The Festival Honor Bands concert is the finale at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 19.
