Colorado State University - Pueblo speakers discusses solution to Afghanistan dilemma
PUEBLO – A visiting Fulbright Scholar at Colorado State University-Pueblo will discuss how the British defeated an insurgency in Southeast Asia in the 1950s and what we can learn from it to resolve the current Afghanistan situation as part of a research presentation sponsored by the CSU-Pueblo Departments of History and Political Science.
Dr. Eszter Simon will present From Failure to Success: Lessons of the Malayan Emergency for the Insurgency in Afghanistan at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2 in the Life Sciences Auditorium. Visiting Fulbright Scholar.
Born in Budapest, Hungary, Simon received a Ph.D. from Central European University. Currently, she is a Fulbright Scholar-In-Residence at Southern Polytechnic State University in Marietta, GA. Her research interests include the politics of Central and Eastern Europe, British and American foreign policy, and the impact of teacher development in higher education. She has published several book chapters and articles on Hungarian politics, and is also an advisor to the Slovakian Ministry of Education.
