Colorado State University - Pueblo to broadcast commencement ceremony on Internet
PUEBLO – Friends and relatives of Colorado State University-Pueblo graduates will be able to celebrate across the miles or across town this Saturday as the University will broadcast the ceremony live over the Internet.
CSU-Pueblo’s Commencement Ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 1 at the Colorado State Fairgrounds Events Center. Graduates are asked to report at 8:45 a.m. to line up for the ceremony that begins at 10 a.m.
Approximately 630 of 996 eligible graduates are scheduled to walk in this year’s Commencement ceremony. For the first time ever, the college is streaming the Commencement ceremony live over the Internet. Graduates and family members who cannot attend the event in person will be able to watch it by visiting http://www.colostate-pueblo.edu/Commencement and clicking on “Watch Commencement Ceremony Live.”
A.J. Rhodes of West Hollywood, Calif., will deliver the commencement address. Rhodes, a 1999 mass communications alumnus, has served as director of mobile strategy and marketing for Disney Interactive Media Group for the past four years. Rhodes began his tenure with Disney at Radio Disney, creating promotions and strategic alliances that extended the brand into multiple distribution channels including television, online and mobile. Previous to that, Rhodes was at MGM Studios managing worldwide marketing for consumer products, interactive and location-based-entertainment.
Brenda Mariscal, a native of Los Angeles, Calif., will receive the first diploma as recipient of the 2010 Threlkeld Award for Excellence. She earned a bachelor’s degree with double majors in accounting and Spanish and has accepted a position with Deloitte and Touche in Los Angeles.
The CSU-Pueblo Alumni Association will host a reception following the ceremony in Kitchen Craft Hall, formerly the Palace of Agriculture.
