Colorado State University - Pueblo students honored by Society of Professional Journalists

PUEBLO – Colorado State University-Pueblo student journalists received a first-place award for an online story chronicling the women’s basketball teams journey to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference 2009 tournament and a second-place award for Best Student Magazine at the Society of Professional Journalists’ (SPJ) Region 9 Mark of Excellence Awards held in Denver on April 10.

The honorees were awarded certificates during the Region 9 SPJ Spring Conference held at the Denver Press Club. Region 9 includes colleges and universities throughout Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, and New Mexico. First-place regional winners will advance to the national round of judging. National winners will be announced in early May.

The awards recognize work completed during the 2009 calendar year. This year, the contest received more than 3,600 entries.
