Registration Open for 2010 X-Challenge competition at Colorado State University - Pueblo
PUEBLO – Run, bike, throw, swing, or row your way to Colorado State University – Pueblo campus for the 11th annual 2010 X-Challenge scheduled on April 11. Registration is now underway.
This sprint adventure race consists of competition among two-person teams in three categories: male, female and co-ed. Four person relay teams will consist of one ropes course player, one cyclist, one runner, and one kayaker/runner. Individuals may also enter and will complete the challenge alone.
The CSU-Pueblo X-Challenge Campus to Reservoir Adventure Race consists of completion of several low ropes course challenge events at CSU-Pueblo, followed by mountain biking through the Pueblo Greenway trail system, to “Ducky boats” course in the Arkansas river rapids, to run orienteering in the Pueblo City Park, more cycling along the greenway to the State Park, and culminating with open water kayaking in the Pueblo Reservoir and a short run to the finish in the Pueblo State Park. The race highlights much of the natural beauty and local recreational highlights in Pueblo and the surrounding area. The terrain covers the full gamut of terrain from hilly to flat and from dirt to grass to pavement. Racers are expected to bring the following equipment: mountain bikes and helmets, run gear, and general competition gear.
The ropes course events are completed first to determine a starting position and then the rest of the events are completed in a continuous race. The ropes course events are scored based on quality factors and converted to time rather than simply being timed.
The event is sponsored by students in the Department of Exercise Science and Health Promotion and Recreation, in conjunction with the Outdoors Pursuits Program. Registration is being taken online at http://www.active.com/more-sports/pueblo-co/xchallenge-2010 and search for CSU X-Challenge.
