Colorado State University - Pueblo hosts Where am I Wearing author on March 2
PUEBLO – An obsession with where his clothes were made has taken Kelsey Timmerman around the world. The Office of Student Activities and the Sociology Department at Colorado State University-Pueblo has invited world traveler Kelsey Timmerman, author of Where Am I Wearing, to deliver a lecture on globalization, culture and economics on Tuesday, March 2 at 2 p.m. in Psychology 205.
Where Am I Wearing? A Global Tour to the Countries, Factories, and People That Make Our Clothes was published in December 2008 and received press in Time Magazine and the Financial Times among other publications.
In addition to being a best-selling author, Kelsey Timmerman is an engaging speaker who often captivates audiences with tales of his global-trotting journeys “in search of the origins of his underwear.” Whether laughing at the world with garment workers in Cambodia or talking with college students in Indiana, discussing SCUBA diving with lobster divers in Nicaragua or addressing a nonprofit in Florida, playing PlayStation with students in Kosovo or challenging high school students in the U.S. to see the world differently, connects people through words and pictures.
“I believe that if we reduce global issues to the stories of individual people, we can better see ourselves, our parents, our sons and daughters, and our hopes and struggles in one another,“ Timmerman said.
He has spoken on globalization, travel, and social responsibility at universities, high schools, and groups across the country.
