Ent Federal Credit Union Announces Scholarships for President’s Leadership Program

PUEBLO – Two students in the President’s Leadership Program (PLP) at Colorado State University-Pueblo have been named recipients of two, $3,000 scholarships for 2010-2011 sponsored by Ent Federal Credit Union.

Both scholarship winners are from Pueblo County:  Alayna Abeyta is a sophomore psychology major who graduated from South High School in 2009.  Ashley Cruz is a freshman biology major who graduated from Southern Colorado Early College in 2010.  Both students also will earn a minor in leadership studies through the program.

Cathy Grossman, vice president of corporate communications for Ent, said her company is pleased to be able to provide support to CSU-Pueblo in recognition of the important role the university has in the Pueblo community.

“Our success is tied to the success of our member communities, and we are proud to invest in quality programs that help to make those communities even better,” Grossman said.

PLP Director Shelly Moreschini said Ent selected worthy recipients.

“Alayna and Ashley are top-notch students who exemplify the leadership qualities we promote through our program and at the university,” Moreschini said.  “They are both very dedicated to their fields of study and to volunteer service, so it means a lot to have Ent recognize and honor them in this special way.”

The President’s Leadership Program develops and trains emerging leaders at CSU-Pueblo through a four-year leadership program focused on academic, service, and experiential learning.  Ent Federal Credit Union serves members who live, work, worship or attend school in Pueblo, El Paso, Teller and Denver counties. “Ent’s gift to our President’s Leadership Program is evidence of their own corporate leadership in our region and a demonstration of their valued partnership with the University.  Ent is also a generous Corporate Partner of CSU-Pueblo’s Athletics Program,” said DenaSue Potestio, president of the CSU-Pueblo Foundation.  “PLP is funded primarily through private means and Ent’s gift is timely and greatly appreciated,” concluded Potestio.
