PUEBLO – Whether looking to explore career paths through internships, trying to land their first job, or looking for employment while embarking on their college path, Colorado State University-Pueblo students will have an opportunity to explore dozens of options on September 22 when the CSU-Pueblo Career Center will host its third annual Internship and Job Fair.
Forty-two local, regional, and national companies representing a wide range of industries are expected to attend the Internship and Job Fair from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22 in the Occhiato University Center. The event is open to CSU-Pueblo students and alumni.
Employers will be accepting résumés for consideration for employment and internship opportunities and discussing career options and opportunities with students of all majors and academic levels. Participants will learn about hiring trends, skills employers are seeking, what to expect from the interview process. Attendees should “Dress to Impress” and bring copies of their résumés.
“Internships are the ‘wave of the future’ and one of the best ways to ‘get your foot in the door’ in your field of interest,” said Tanya Baird, CSU-Pueblo internship coordinator. “We would like to see more students doing internships – and not just for credit.”
Many of the employers attending the fair will be making decisions for next summer.
“Too many students wait until the last minute to decide to do an internship,” Baird said. “However, to insure they land a successful opportunity, students need to begin the process at a minimum of one semester prior to the internship. We continue to hear from businesses that voice their concern about reaching qualified applicants in our local area, and we have an exceptional pool of more than 5,000 right here on our campus!”
