CSU–Pueblo Teacher Education Association Hosts Flea Market Aug. 14-15

The Teacher Education Association (TEA) at Colorado State University-Pueblo will host its inaugural “Fill the Locker” flea market, the proceeds of which will contribute to the association’s 10th annual school supply drive. The flea market aims to raise funds to provide basic supplies to many Pueblo families so their children can have a successful and enjoyable start to the school year.

Last year’s drive raised more than $3,000 in school supplies, which were distributed 21 of Pueblo’s Title I elementary and middle schools for area children. The Teacher Education Association hopes to match or exceed that amount and nearly half way to its goal. Community support from area businesses and individuals is the driving force behind the success of the school drive, according to event coordinator Margie Massey, who also serves as TEA Sponsor.

Flea market items will be accepted as well as monetary donations and actual school supplies. Supplies and donations may be dropped off in advance of the flea market on Aug. 14-15 inthe Education Department at the CSU-Pueblo campus, Technology Building ??? or during the flea market from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. on Friday, August 14 and Saturday, August 15 in the West parking lot of the campus near the Math/Physics Building. For questions about the event or making a donation, contact Margie Massey at 719-549-2257. Contributions will be distributed to area children near the end of August.

The following items are most needed for the supply drive, while new or gently used items are encouraged for the flea market itself:
Household items (excluding adult clothing and shoes)
Glue Sticks
Colored Pencils
Supply Boxes
Spiral Notebooks
Loose Leaf Paper
