Dr. Richard Kreminski, professor and head of the mathematics department at Texas A & M –Commerce (formerly East Texas State University), will begin duties as the new Dean of the College of Science and Mathematics (CSM) later this summer.

The College of Science and Mathematics offers majors in four disciplines (biology, chemistry, mathematics, and physics), a Master of Science degree in applied natural sciences, and minors in all areas. In addition, the College is responsible for university-wide general education courses and support courses for other academic departments in mathematics and natural and physical sciences. The Dean provides leadership and administration for CSM faculty, staff, and students and is the liaison between the Provost and the faculty. He develops goals, objectives, and performance standards for the college and leads the college’s academic programs to ensure the highest quality and that students are equipped with the necessary skill and knowledge to be highly successful upon graduation.

Kreminski has led the department of mathematics at Texas A&M - Commerce since 2003. He also served as Assistant Dean and as Interim Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the same university. Kreminski earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and master’s and doctoral degrees in applied mathematics from the University of Maryland. Last year, he earned a juris doctorate from the Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University.

Kremenski brings with him a wide range of administrative, teaching, and mentoring experiences and an active research agenda that has resulted in the publication of several journal articles, a textbook (Applied Abstract Algebra, Johns Hopkins University Press, 2004), and a broad range of formal and informal presentations at professional conferences, and invited colloquia and seminars. He has also made more than two dozen presentations to students at all levels from K-12 through graduate school.

“We are delighted to have been able to attract a pool of highly qualified candidates for the dean’s position,” said CSU-Pueblo Provost Russ Meyer. “Rick Kreminiski stood out even in such a pool, and we are all eager to have him join us as we look forward to even more growth and success in the coming years.”
