More than 200 new first-year and transfer students and their parents from California, New Mexico, South Dakota, Missouri and all over the state of Colorado will take their first steps to enroll for the Fall 2009 semester at Colorado State University-Pueblo as part of
Discover Your CSU-Pueblo Visit Day on Friday (March 13).
Students have an opportunity to register for classes, obtain student IDs, check their financial aid status, take a campus tour, complete a housing contract, work out in the new Student Recreation Center, and learn more about student life. Participants also will have lunch with a representative from their major to learn more about the specific requirements of that particular major.
Transfer student will participate in a Transfer Student Session in the morning, then join the other students. The cheerleaders, dance team, and soul steppers along with a pianist and music ensemble will perform in the morning, while the ThunderWolves mascot also will make an appearance.
After a welcome by President Joseph Garcia, students will attend sessions on admissions, athletics, financial aid and scholarships, registration, housing, and student life. Students can register for fall classes, receive their financial aid and scholarship award if their file is complete, complete a housing contract and take a housing tour, including show rooms in phase one of the new 250-bed residence hall and Belmont Residence Hall. Student also can apply for admission or complete an application filed depending on their progress to date. An activity/information fair also will introduce prospective students to opportunities within the city of Pueblo.
Students can check out or work out in the Student Recreation Center, register to win a $500 scholarship courtesy of College Invest, and play rock band or do bead art courtesy of the Office of Student Activities.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. in the Occhiato University Center with events running through 3 p.m. A bus will transport students and parents from the Denver area at no charge.
