Gary Hart and Obama Energy Plan featured at monthly webcast at CSU–Pueblo

As part of a monthly webcast series this spring from the Colorado Renewable Energy Society (CRES), Colorado State University-Pueblo will host a webcast featuring Gary Hart and the Obama Energy Plan.

This month’s webcast, “The Obama Energy Plan,” will begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 26 in Technology 234, hosted by the South Eastern Colorado Renewable Energy Society (SECRES). Admission is free for CRES members with a $5 donation requested from non-members. The local webcasts represent a continued commitment by CSU-Pueblo to promote and utilize renewable energy resources.

In his inauguration address, President Barack Obama said, “We will harness the sun and the winds and the soil to fuel our cars and run our factories.” This webcast will discuss how President Obama plans to help the rest of America join Colorado in building a new energy economy.

The webcast will feature former Colorado Senator Gary Hart, who was first elected to represent Colorado in 1974 and was re-elected in 1980. He played a leadership role in major environmental and conservation legislation, new initiatives to reform the military, advance the information revolution, and improve foreign policy.

Since retiring from the Senate in 1987, Hart has been extensively involved in international law and business as a strategic advisor to major U.S. corporations and as a teacher, author, and lecturer. He was president of Global Green, the U.S. Affiliate of Mikhail Gorbachev’s environmental foundation, Green Cross International. Currently, he is Wirth Chair Professor at the University of Colorado at Denver and a Distinguished Fellow at the New America Foundation.

The tentative schedule for remaining webcasts this spring includes:
March 26 Financing Renewable Energy in Today’s Capital Markets
April 23 Concentrating Solar Power’s Role in Tackling Climate Change
        May 28 Alternative Transportation Options

CRES is a non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to increasing the awareness of the economic and environmental benefits of renewable energy and energy efficient technologies.
