Laurie Corradino, a senior accounting major in the Hasan School of Business at Colorado State University – Pueblo, recently received a $3,000 scholarship from the Denver Chapter of the American Society of Women Accountants.
A native of Trinidad and a 2007 graduate of Trinidad State Junior College, Corradino is in her final year of bachelor’s degree studies and will graduate with her BSBA degree in May, 2009. In the fall, she plans to return to CSU-Pueblo to continue her education in pursuit of an Master of Business Administration degree, and the CPA exam in the upcoming year.
For the past two semesters, Corradino has been named to the CSU-Pueblo Dean’s list and has maintained a 4.0 grade point average throughout her college career. She was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma International Business Honor Society last spring and was chosen by the HSB faculty and academic advisors to represent the school as its academic scholarship recipient. During her academic career, she has received a number of other awards, including 2007 Phi Theta Kappa All-Colorado Academic Team and a National Collegiate Business Merit Award. She is an academic tutor and plans to run for vice president of the HSB Accounting Club. She is also is a student member of the Colorado Society of CPAs, the Public Accountants Society of Colorado, and the National Society of Accountants.
The American Society of Women Accountants was established in 1938 with the mission to “enable women in all accounting and related fields to achieve their full personal, professional, and economic potential and to contribute to the future development of their profession.” The local Denver organization provides scholarships annually to women accounting students from across the state and supports a Student Career Night which, this year, was held on October 21.
