Citizens of Southern Colorado can celebrate this nation’s freedom with two concerts and two fireworks displays in one holiday weekend July 3-4, thanks to Colorado State University-Pueblo, the Historic Arkansas Riverwalk of Pueblo, and the Pueblo Symphony.
CSU-Pueblo will host the U.S. Air Force Academy Concert Band on July 3
in the Hasan
Amphitheatre, beginning at 7:15 p.m. The concert will be followed by Sertoma fireworks at approximately 9:15. Food and beverage vendors will open at 5:30 p.m. The concert will be preceded by a color guard by the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office at approximately 7 p.m. A $5 per vehicle parking fee will be collected and distributed back into the community through Sertoma charities. Vendors interested in setting up a booth on July 3 should call Cindy Summer at 549-2929.
The USAF Concert Band is a 47-member ensemble consisting of full-time professional musicians and is one of 10 performing groups that comprise the entire 76-member USAF Academy Band, which reflects the institution’s standards of excellence and supports troop morale, recruiting, and community relations through nearly 600 public concerts, civic and military functions across the country. The concert band performs a variety of musical styles and traditional American classics, vocal selections, and patriotic songs.
A Beach Party is coming to Pueblo’s Riverwalk on July 4
with the Kahuna Beach Party and the Pueblo Symphony. Bring your lawn chairs out to the grass on the Riverwalk in front of the Xcel Energy Outdoor Stage, enjoy a boat ride, Airnastics Amusements kid’s rides, and purchase food and refreshments starting at 3 p.m. provided by a variety of local vendors. Among the special events are a Hula Hoop Contest at 5 p.m., a Swimsuit Challenge at 6 p.m., and Polynesian Dancers at 7 p.m. The concert will begin at 8 p.m. with fireworks sponsored by Land Title Guarantee Company to follow at 9:45 p.m.
