CSU–Pueblo honors annual women's poetry competition winners

Winners of the 15th annual Southern Colorado Women's Poetry Contest will be announced as part of the Evening of Women’s Poetry on March 17 at Colorado State University-Pueblo.

A reception honoring poets who entered the Southern Colorado Women’s Poetry contest will begin at 7 p.m., to be followed by the awarding of prizes to contest winners in the Occhiato University Center Hearthwell Lounge. A panel, including Kim McKee, four-time winner of international Celtic songwriting competitions, judged the contests.

Rocky Mountain Celtic duo McKee and Ken Willson, aka The Jigheads, also will perform at the event. Guest poet Kim McKee is four-time winner of international Celtic songwriting competitions and national champion on the mountain dulcimer in 2002. McKee and Willson will perform her original songs accompanied by folk harp and Celtic guitar. To top off the evening, McKee and Willson will teach Irish ceilidh (party) dancing in the ballroom beginning at 9:15 p.m. No partner necessary. The public is invited. Refreshments available.

The annual women's poetry contests and Evening of Women's Poetry are sponsored by the Women's Studies Program in celebration of Women's History Month.
