CSU–Pueblo 2007 Homecoming activities scheduled for Oct. 8-13


Former and current students of Southern Colorado Junior College, Pueblo Junior College, Southern Colorado State College, the University of Southern Colorado, and Colorado State University – Pueblo are encouraged to return to campus Oct. 8 – 13 for a variety of activities, planned both by students and the Alumni Association.

Student-sponsored Homecoming activities will kick off Monday, (Oct. 8), with Toga Day and a raffle and “person” auction beginning at 7 p.m. in the Belmont Residence hall (BRH) gym. Students and staff are encouraged to dress in the appropriate clothing of the daily theme with free giveaways each day. Tuesday, (Oct. 9) is Wild West Day and includes an afternoon mini float parade on campus and free swing dance lessons at 6 p.m in the BRH gym (dance lessons also available on Monday and Wednesday at 6 p.m.). Preceding a bonfire at the Rawlings Soccer Field, a hot wings eating contest sponsored by Buffalo Wild Wings will begin at 6 p.m.

Wednesday (Oct. 10) will recognize the 1950’s featuring a local stylist to coif those who dare. The men’s soccer team will take on University of Colorado-Colorado Springs (UCCS) at 3:30 p.m. and Mr. and Ms. 2007 CSU-Pueblo will be crowned at the evening Swing Dance in the OUC Ballroom beginning at 8 p.m. On Thursday (Oct. 11), the groove continues with the 1970s theme to include tie-dying t-shirts at the Pavilion, a kickball tournament between faculty/staff and students, and Roller Disco at Skate America beginning at 8:30 p.m. Friday is Spirit Day with a cheer contest and the Student Alumni Association’s 4th Annual T-Wolf Challenge at noon, beginning at the ropes course. After three fun stunts, the winning team will ride away on a pair of mountain bikes. The women’s soccer team plays Colorado Christian on Rawlings Field at 1 p.m.

CSU-Pueblo’s Alumni Board will host its 4th Annual Luau Reception on campus Friday, Oct. 12 at 6 p.m. in the Occhiato University Center Ballroom. Those donning Hawaiian shirts, coconut bras and grass skirts shall receive entertainment, prizes, contests, food, and drink for just $10. On Saturday (Oct. 13), alumni, university friends, students and their parents are invited to bring the family to join the CSU-Pueblo Office of Student Activities for Family Fun Day from noon-4 p.m. A petting zoo, face painting, games, food, live music, and the always popular pumpkin patch will be featured at this free event on campus.
