Colorado State University – Pueblo has announced the process by which eight full- ride scholarships (including tuition, fees, and books) will be distributed for Fall, 2007, thanks to the generosity of the Kane Family Foundation.
University officials already have contacted the superintendents and high school principals in Pueblo City Schools and Pueblo School District 70, seeking the top 10 graduating seniros. In accordance with the gift agreement, one student will be selected based on their high school academic record, written statement, interview, and on recommendations from each high school – Centennial, Central, County, East, South, Pueblo West, and the Dolores Huerta Preparatory High School. An eighth scholarship will be awarded to one student from a combined Rye High School/Pueblo Tech Academy applicant pool. The Kane Scholarship will cover the full cost of tuition, books, and mandatory course fees for each awardee for up to five years toward pursuit of a bachelor’s degree and is based entirely on merit, rather than financial need.
Letters have been sent to the students and parents of all qualified students in Pueblo County encouraging them to apply for admission to CSU-Pueblo and to complete the on-line scholarship application by April 2 if they have not already done so, https://coloradostate-pueblo.scholarships.nelnet.net/
During the week of April 9-13, teams of CSU-Pueblo staff will review the scholarship applications, select finalists at each school, and schedule interviews. On April 16, initial offers for each school will be made to one recipient, who must accept or reject the offer by April 20. Several alternates will be selected from each school in order to expedite the process. All subsequent offers must be accepted by April 23.
Kane Scholars and their parents will be invited to attend the 2007 President’s Scholarship Gala at CSU-Pueblo on Friday, April 27, where they will be honored as part of the evening’s festivities.
