Colorado State University – Pueblo is teaming up with Sallie Mae and Colorado Technical University to bring the “Paying for College” Sallie Mae bus tour to Pueblo next week.
The “Paying for College” bus tour is in its third year of informing Hispanic families about the sources available to them for attending and paying for a college education. Pueblo will be the bus tour’s only Colorado stop, showing students the various forms of financial aid available to them that make college attendance possible. The tour bus arrives in Pueblo on Sunday, Feb. 25, with its first stop on Tues., Feb. 27 at Risley Middle School, followed by Dolores Huerta Preparatory High School later that day and ending at East High School on Wed., Feb. 28. As part of the Pueblo visit, Sallie Mae will award five scholarships to students, totaling $2,750.
While the “Paying for College” Bus Tour is in Pueblo, CSU – Pueblo Financial Services representatives Nathan Phelps and Christina Zamarripa will help staff the tour bus. Sallie Mae will offer free resources and information on scholarships, grants, and federal aid. Through workshops in the tour bus and within the community, students will be educated in college admissions and financial aid processes.
The “Paying for College” Tour Bus has been operating since 2004, educating more than 75,000 students and parents, with over 470 “Paying for College” workshops, and $280,000 in college scholarships.
